Yes! A single “quotation mark” (garshayim) is used before the last letter in acronyms, and a root is an acronym, here standing for Beit-Heit-Nun.

When dealing with Hebrew roots the custom (or, better, the "rule") is to write them with quotation marks (namely  ") before the last letter for the sake of distinguishing a word which is nothing but a root from a current word...

בחן is not exactly the same thing as בח"ן.
