Dear Listees,

this has been a fascinating discussion (throwing in several different angles); and I have ben following it with great interest.

However, my original question wasn't answered.

Subject: Re: [b-hebrew] PAAM, was KPR

I recall another variant of פעם PAAM: פים PIYM of 1Sam. 13:21,
and פימה PIYMAH, 'blob', of Job 15:27. Now: PIYMAH, double chin',
practically a פיטמת בשר PITMAT BASAR under the chin.

1. I was under the impression that the PAAM of Is. 41:7 is a maul or somesuch
heavy hammer with which one is הולם HOLEM a big whack, but anvil is also possible.

2. I think that פעה PAAH (Is. 42:14) is a variant of בעה BAAH, 'emit', as in Is. 64:1(2).
From this we have the present בעיה BAYAH, 'quandary, problem, question', which is, methinks,
but a פעיה PAYAH of an inquiring mouth.
