There is no qamats qatan and qamats gadol, only an overridden qamats. The girl's name אָשְרַת is read O$RAT to bring it closer to O $ER, 'bliss', but France is being called CARPAT, and not CORPAT. Why? because modern France has nothing to do with COREP (the brother of SOREP), 'smelter'.

Doesn't the following word pair indicate that distinguishing qamats gadol and qamats qaton makes a difference?

1. The noun "choch-ma" חכמה = fem singular noun as in 1 Kings 5:9 (4:29 in English)

2. The verb "cha-chi-ma" חכמה = qatal 3rd fem singular verb as in Zech 9:2.

I don't believe, not even for a moment, that there are "two different" kinds of qamats.
