Dave,
The various spellings and pronunciations of the name of God come up for
discussion every now and then, and usually begin linguistically and end up
getting theological. So please let's give it a rest.
Thanks

Can the six variants of YHWH in Codex L. be discussed openly on B-Hebrew?
I would specifically like to ask questions about the Hebrew variant
[yod-hatef segol-he-defective holem-waw-hireq-he]
which occurs in Judges 16:28 in Codex L.
Why specifically did the Masoretes point YHWH
with the precise same vowel points as are found in Elohiym,
in Judges 16:28?
Would a question like the one I just proposed above be considered
linguistic or theological?
My question could certainly be considered theological,
[since Christians happen to believe that scriptures are given by
inspiration of God]
but it also might be considered totally from a linguistic point of view.
The answer of course effects English Speaking Christians,
and Messianic Jews more that others,
because both groups have New Testaments that claim that "all Scripture
is given by inspiration of God"
Sincerely yours,
Dave Donnelly
