Hi Nir,
What about the two spelling methods in modern Hebrew? Isn't there a national standard for the full spelling with additional vavs and yods? (A curse to beginners that have dictionaries using different spelling norms.)
I've been led to believe that ben Yehuda augmented Hebrew in a way that preserved the earlier Hebrew as a valid subset.
