Normal academic inquiry and logic appears to include both substance and
form; both grammar and story ....; at least at the Cornell University,
Department of English, detailed description of their past and
future, graduate and undergraduate course listings. What am I missing here?

The normal academic study of the english language appears to include not
just the words of chaucer, beowulf, etc., .... but also the story. ... at
least for a university of Cornell's stature.
