what is a 'piel context'?
Are there contexts that accept le-dabber 'to speak' because it is a piel
and other contexts that accept lemor 'to say' because it is not a piel?
the argumentation above has no meaning until a definition of "pi``el" is
made, and then that definition will need to be demostrated as consistent
within the language.
As to the examples themselves,
Pere has already correctly shown that they do not fit pi``el,
and not because of Masoretic pointing but because of the consonantal text.
mkh for *mnkh (Ex 21) was another 'impossible' morphological suggestion.
msb (1Ki6) would need another 'beyt' to fit pi``el,
and mTb Ezek 33 has nothing to suggest that it is a "pi``el" except a lack
of definition of pi``el, which would be a form of 'dividing by zero'.
As George commented, a person must define what a D-stem looks like
in hollow roots. Karl has not done that, nor has he defined what he
means by "pi``el".
Only then can one discuss forms like mTb and m'd, and
of course, there is nothing among known patterns to suggest that they
are "pi``el" patterns.
