With my experience with the Slavonik languages I have seen quite a few
parallels. The use of the word '*inka' to mean both woman in general and
wife in more specific contexts e.g. 'moya *inka'. The use of the word
'div4ina' in its general sense of girl (as in young female) and in its
idiomatic sense of virgin, unmarried female e.g. 'kolu ia byla we devy4ka'
roughly is equivalent to 'Before I was married' while literally meaning
'when I was still a girl'.

While I have seen these phenomenon I'm not sure if this was just the natural
evolution of the language or if this was the direct result of religious use
of language forcing the evolution of the language in a particular direction.
In any case, forgive my ignorance but who were the Khazar?
