I think you may have missed the point George. The Babylonian Talmad claims Solomon was the original author but that it was only written down much later. How could the point be made that it was only written down much later if it was contemporary with Solomon? Surely, a prerequisite of such an observation is that the work must be much later than Solomon?!?
