Call for Papers

An international conference on "War and Peace in Jewish Tradition" will be
held at Beit Morasha in Talpiyot, Jerusalem on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 (the
week before the World Congress of Jewish Studies).

The conference will deal with questions relating to war and peace in Jewish
thought, historiography, Halakhah, art and society from the Biblical period
through modern times, utilizing various methodologies: historical, textual,
archaeological, sociological and philosophical.

Lectures will be given in English and in Hebrew. We are considering inviting
the participants to submit their papers for review and publication in an
edited collection of essays.

Scholars who wish to present papers are invited to send a 300 word abstract
to the emails listed below no later than April 30, 2009.
