Thank you. This was indeed translated from the original Hebrew, "the purest Rabbinical Hebrew, with a large intermixture of the Biblical idiom". It is not however, as claimed, the book "REFERRED TO IN JOSHUA AND SECOND SAMUEL", but a mediaeval Hebrew work. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sefer_haYashar_%28midrash%29
