In the various Greek editions of Clement of Alexandria's Stromata Book V.
Chapter 6:34
we discover the variants Iaou and Iaoue and Iaouai.

How does anyone know which of these Greek spellings Clement of Alexandria
actually used?

http://www.ccel.org/fathers2/ANF-02/anf02-65.htm#P7381_2229893

The ANF-02 English translation of Stromata Book V. Chapter 6:34 reads:

>>>
Further, the mystic name of four letters which was affixed to those alone
to whom the adytum was accessible, is called Jave, which is interpreted,
"Who is and shall be."
>>>

The next sentence is:
>>>
The name of God, too, among the Greeks contains four letters.
>>>

What does Clement mean when he says "The name of God, too, among the
Greeks contains four letters"?
What name of God is he talking about?

I realize it's an off-topic aside, but isn't interesting, to say the
least, that the predominant model for biblical criticism (DH) finds its
genesis in the period of Josiah, a period for which there is no more
archaeological evidence for a temple than there is in the period of
Solomon. And yet, so much rests on it, as if it were a strong foundation.
