A writing system is not a descriptory system. It's a tool for
communicating; and a tool that's entirely adequate to, say, 99% of the
situations where it's used is a pretty damned good tool. You might as
well say

"The fact that it is possible to drive nails with a hammer does not
explain why anyone would develop a tool that won't drive screws."

OR

"The fact that it is possible to compose and print documents, perform
mathematical calculations, send and receive correspondence, create
breathtakingly beautiful works of art, and amuse teenagers and small
children for hours on end does not explain why anyone would develop an
inadequate operating system."

Hammers are there. So is Windows.
