all list users are prepared to upgrade their software (even when
upgrades are free) to support Unicode.
I wish you wouldn't insult people so gratuitously. Some people are not in
a position to upgrade to the latest whiz-bang software for reasons other
than their personal crankiness. In fact, some people have occasionally
been forced to down grade to text-only mailers so that they other people
can reply to their emails. Spammers have forced a lot changes on email
administrators that in an ideal world they wouldn't have made. That
impacts on the end users.
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8; format=flowedCould you read it - the main part, or the Hebrew? There is no spam danger in Unicode plain text. But, though you may not realise it in beautiful but far-away Christchurch (I was there last January), the world is multilingual and we simply can't all communicate with ISO-8859-1.
But thanks for the reminder that not everyone is able to choose their own mailer. Some are constrained to old solutions by their (Unix or other) Systems Administrator.
