Apparently there is no clear clue from cognate languages either.
Heres a case where Im reading my own reactions into the verse, for if I
were to observe justice being bent by bribes (cf. Prov. 17:23), I would be
furious. Therefore the dictionary definition doesnt make sense. A gift in
secret looks like a parallelism for a bribe.
(Could the Akkadian cognate term actually be related to HPK to turn over
instead of KPH?)
