Tony:
A good source to start with, as so often, is the Anchor Bible Dictionary,
where the article on SATAN begins:
>>SATAN. The purpose of this article is to provide a summary of the
occurrences and an objective analysis of the various uses of the term
Satanthroughout the Bible, as well as within deuterocanonical,
pseudepigraphical, and early rabbinic literature.<<
You might also wish to check out the entries in the Jewish Encyclopedia

I haven't read all of these, but I'm sure you will find something of interest.
