The "et" is much attested in Phoenician inscriptions, as well as in
Edomite and Moabite.
It is in common use in modern Hebrew writing and speech. (Curiously
D. Ben Gurion fought it tooth and nail, or, in this case, one should say
'mouth and pen'). Uri
