Gen 1 is usually attributed to the priestly writer
and Gen 2:4 to the J writer or Yahwist.
A good introduction to the traditional Documentary Hypothesis
is R. Friedman's Who Wrote the Bible?
The whole scheme is quite controversial now tho,
and his book is dated.
It is still a very good read for the tyro, imo.
