One and all,
I am doing some research on the thorny issue of divorce and remarriage. The
following question stems from Fitzmeyer's article "Matthean Divorce Texts"
_Theological Studies_ 1976. On page 218, he offers his translation of the
Damascus Document 4:12-5:14a.
In 4:17 his translation of a certain portion is: "the first is
unchastity." I take it from the article that "unchastity" here is a form of
the Hebrew word "zenut" (from the transliteration it looks like a noun with
the definite article).
In 5:9 his translation of a certain portion is: "The regulation for
incest." But I cannot find in the article what the Hebrew word used for
"incest" is. Is it zenut or something else?
I've tried to search the net for a transliteration of the text, etc. but to
no avail. I don't have immediate access to photocopies, etc., of the text
under question.
If someone has the time and the resources, I would be most appreciative if
you could tell me what the Hebrew word lies behind "incest" in CD 5:9.
Many, grateful thanks beforehand.
