Peter:

The WTS version 3.0 lemmatization you are looking at is based on the
categorization found in the English Koehler-Baumgartner-Stamm Lexicon
(1:129). B.AYIT_2 is, acc. to KBS, "fem of *B.AYIN...between..." It
occurs, acc. to KBS, in the five places you mention. It is a preposition.

As to the "normal" form; again the lemma/lexeme is based on KBS, which
lists the lemma as B.AYIN not B."YN (which, unfortunately for most of us is
the way we learned it a long time ago in 1st year Hebrew). The reason they
do this--my guess is--that they list one occurrence of the noun at Neh 5:18
meaning "interval," which, as all of the "prepositional" uses, is also in
the construct.

In Prov 8:2, NRSV is following KBS and translates exactly as KBS suggests
"crossroads"; NASB and NIV are basically the same with "where the paths meet."

BTW, I'm currently making a final (I pray !!??!!) pass through KBS and the
WTS to finalize all the lemmatization to KBS as the standard; if any of you
run across things that look funny, wrong, typo'ed, stupid, etc., in your
use of the WTS in your software, please send them directly to me via email.
Thanks.
