your statement sounds well-worded.
i would add the linguistic/historical method.
again, avi hurvitz's work on first temple versus second temple hebrew spans
thirty years and has a nice 'outside' control because of the spread of
aramaic and bi-lingual hebrew/aramaic people in the persian period. it is
germane to this list and could use interested students to increase the
analyzed data.
