I think it is - under the following conditions:

1. if you take *David* here as a symbol for a certain time and a certain step
in the development of ancient israelite religion, and not as an individual
who did it.

2. if you assume that it does not depend on the establishment of (davidic)
kingship, but on the infiltration of old Jerusalem (?) with a new kind of
religion.

3. if you admit that it is not a case of forgery, but an early example of
*contextual theology*, i.e. the attempt to make a certain new religious
thought clear to someone who actually did not have the premiss to understand
it.

Maybe it works that way.
