I always thought that the name of the Philistines, Heb. peli$tim, was of
non-Semitic origin, and what the Philistines called themselves, since
they appear in the inscriptions of Raameses III as Palushta (along with
the Sherdenu > Sardinia, the Danuna > Danaioi of Homer, dnnm of
Azituwada; and others).
