Is there a difference in meaning between the long and short form of the
cohortative? i.e.. is the shortened form more/less forceful? I am comparing
2 Sam. 24:14 with 1 Chr. 21:13 David says "Do not let me fall into the hand
of man." The Chr. drops the ending off of the qi1cs verb. Should I read
anything into this?
Thanks for your help.
BTW: If anyone else would like to add any comparative comments regarding 1
Chr. 21:7-17 and 2Sam 24:10-17, I'm all ears. There are numerous changes
chr. made to Sam. but they are all very slight syntactically but seem to be
pretty significant in terms of meaning.
