(Moving this thread to sm-discuss...)

I tried to make it very clear that I want Python spells together, not
that I want a specific name for this new section. I can name it any way
as soon as there's consensus.

My purpose was to keep Python spells together to (1) make upgrades
easier and to (2) reuse common code. Example of the first item
(unimplemented) would be using Cheeseshop site to mine for version
numbers, similar to PEAR and php-pear. Example of (2) is already
committed (see python-libs/FUNCTIONS) and allows removing BUILD and
INSTALL files from individual Python spells in most cases.

I should probably just rename it to "py" as I originally wanted, until a
name everyone agrees on comes up.

And here comes controversy. :) We want packages in the 'more specific'
section, but people seem to disagree on what 'more specific' means.

Possible categorizations are:
1. Language (e.g. python, perl, etc.)
2. Category (e.g. development tool, library, window manager, etc.)
3. Specific group (e.g. GNOME, xfce, cpan, etc.)

I think #1 and #3 are where we start getting messed up with languages
such as python and perl (and ruby and probably others).

Generally I'd say put applications outside of the 'language' sections,
but then there is the good point of simplifying the language packages
such as perl and python. For these (perl, python, etc.) I'd prefer the
simplified approach (cleaning up BUILD and INSTALL via FUNCTIONS)
myself. What do others think?
