If the water in the fish ponds can be kept in motion, allowing for
suspension of nutrient-containing solids, it can be simply pumped to
other areas for remediation and use as plant food, using solar or wind
powered pumps, of course. In the case of the African project, the brine
shrimp lagoon was contained in an area higher than the agricultural fields
(maybe they were at the same elevation and tides were used to move effluent
to the fields). The shrimp were caught in nets (a weir would be used for
fish production) and the dam would be opened to allow flow of effluent to
the fields.

Another method which is sometimes used in hog or poultry waste lagoons is
to place a large specially designed sump pump into the depths or on the
bottom of the lagoon to recirculate nutrient rich water with lots of
sediment, silt and organic matter, which would become putrifactive
otherwise, the worst thing that can happen if you're trying to reclaim
those nutrients to recycle as plant fertilizer, and push it to the surface.
These pumps move liquid effluent to the surface to be oxygenated and spread
throughout the lagoon so that aerobic remediation and conversion of raw
nutrients to plant available ones can occur. Elaine Ingham has done work in
this field. This info is based on one of her posts on the subject I read
years ago.

They probably use systems similar to this in Vietnam.
Sounds logical. I did not know that they moved nutrient rich silt and
organic matter from the bottoms of the ponds or ditches, but of course they
did.
