I've got 2 in pots and since I have just gotten them I'm sorry to let you
know that I can't help you, but after reading your post I am now wondering
what I'll do when mine do the same thing yours are doing. Is new growth
tender (can it be trained if one starts early?) I'm picturing giving it a
tomatoe cage like structure to be trained around? I know such wonderings
are not likely helpful, but they might be a consideration in the future.

I can tell you that with regard to pruning, if one does it at nodes the
pieces root pretty easily (I got mine from prunings from my dad's plant,
outdoors in Fl).

RI/Mass border, huh? Which area, Woonsocket, Attleboro, Pawtucket,
Chepachet?

After a trip to Taiwan last year (where I got hooked on the very
civilized practice of eating Hylocereus fruits for breakfast), I
decided to install a dragon fruit plant in my greenhouse. It grew
slowly and overwintered nicely in a 5-gallon pot with a small trellis
in it, but when I put it outside for the summer it threw out six-foot
branches in all directions. There's no way that wild flailing needly
thing is going back inside until I tame it a bit. Has anyone any
pruning or tying-back experience to share? Thanks!
