Dale Secher of Carandale Farms near Madison WI (zone 4b) has a trial running of unusual and overlooked fruits.  Sea Buckthorn is one of them and I believe that so far he is liking the results he is getting so far. I tried some of the juice at a field day he hosted.  It was tasty.
I've copied him on this email since he may wish to know of others interested in sea buckthorn.
The Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems at UW-Madison has a one pager on Dale's fruit trial.  www.cias.wisc.edu.

I tasted a drink made with it when I was at One Green World.  It was a third Juice - third club soda and third suger(I think). It was very good! It was kind of similar to orange juice.

I keep seeing articles about Sea Buckthorn and the latest comes from the
Ontario Ministry of Agriculture suggesting that farmers plant it. Every
article I have read about it extols the virtues of the fruit but NOBODY has
yet said that it tastes good. Makes me wonder if it tastes awful. Does it
make a tasty jelly? Does anyone know?
