Tomi' has a good suggestion. I'd suggest connecting with Coconino County
(Flagstaff area) MSAR. I've heard from their County Sheriff's SAR
Coordinator they have written standards and also are pretty dedicated about
pursuing training and adding capabilities. There may also be potential to
develop some joint training exercises with other MSAR in the state.

I suspect a key issue for MSAR training that some won't anticipate is an
expectation to be trained (not necessarily respond) as a ground searcher.
Demonstrating appropriate equestrian skills on a reliable horse well suited
for MSAR is the additional requirement specific to MSAR as a specialty.

Ellie,

Currently there are only several Local and State MSAR Standards published at
this time. An example of State level MSAR standards (with the State's horse
and rider evaluation) can be viewed at
www.vasarco.org. Una may have knowledge of other MSAR in your state
who likely already have some type of team level standard.
