We have 1 saturday training day per month.
Team leaders set up the days on a rotational basis.I did our October day [5 mins from home].I set out a variety of items whip, boot etc on a 5 km course and the troops had to tick them of a list as they found them.Every third item found they had to radio base with a sit rep.
This was easy to set up,tested observation skills, radio and map nav skills plus it was a nice ride
The section also has a couple of home made dummies which are put to good use for training days.
Generally the team leader will have a scenario scripted, eg a child wandered away from a picnic etc and the day will be run as a real search would be.
Monday we are working on a forensic search for a couple who disappeared about 18 months ago, this is apparently going to be a week long operation where a particular rural property is obviosly going to be gone over with the proverbial fine tooth comb.Unfortunately
we will be on foot....!!

I am interested in what you do for mock searches.  Or trainings, for that matter.

Thanks,
Jonah
