My husband and I are also 'hams'. I am the horse person of the team, though.
We have found that communications is one aspect of almost every event that
everyone says is needed, and often is lacking. We have a number of active ham
radio groups in Central Iowa that participate in providing just the
communications to many events (state fair parade, marathons, etc.)

We are also both members of the Civil Air Patrol, with my husband working to
develop better communications availability there, and I am hoping to
establish some Mounted SAR ability within our search and rescue units. I was
fortunate to participate in the Henry County Mounted SAR clinic in Illinois
the last weekend of April. Hope to contact some of the other Mounted CAP
units for more information and tips....why re-invent the wheel?

I'm learning a bunch reading the posts....Thanks for all the input and info!
