Yes, I can imagine. We live in a truly rural area now, and
I adore it (after many, many years of trying to get back to
an area like this).

But there's a lot of wildlife in suburbia too. I used to
live in Newark, Delaware: maybe not too far from you. My
daughter was visiting, we drove by Christiana Hospital for
some reason (can't remember where we were going), and a fox
ran across the road in front of us.

Foxes in the UK have become urban/suburban specialists,
according to my husband (who is British and saw them
frequently). So maybe they're moving into this ecological
niche here as well.

Here we have: black bears, deer, coyotes, bob cats,
possibly lynx, just possibly mountain lions - as well as the
usual crew of smaller animals.

We've seen a huge male black bear from our house twice, once
only about 30 feet away. He was hanging around town so he
was captured and taken far away.... I don't know how far
though. Alaska would be a good place for him! But I'm
sure he was released somewhere else in Pennsylvania.
