I was looking at my mother's BCBS; she gets statements showing what Medicare pays, and what BCBS pays. Medicare pays almost all her bills. Even with a mastectomy and surgery to set a broken bone, both in the past year, BCBS hasn't averaged paying out anywhere near the $200+/month she pays for it.

I've spent about $32 on a doctor (an office visit, he gave me free 'samples' of antibiotics to treat my sinus infection) and $80 on a chiropractor in the past...hmmm....13 years. Before that were 2 kids, born at a Birth Center that wasn't covered by insurance. I just suffer through other illnesses and injuries, and they get better eventually (what doesn't kill me makes me stronger, right?). I've learned how to treat many, many things myself. Insurance would be a money-losing investment for me, even if I COULD afford it.

I sure hope not. They'll probably have to put me in jail if they are going to force me to have screenings and shots. Don't people understand that forcing flu shots on people is a TRANSFER OF WEALTH to big corporations by USE OF FORCE called Obamacare? What's wrong with people?

The last time I had a need to see a doc was due to an accident when my knee got ripped apart (no 3rd party involved). It took me 6 months of delays CAUSED by the government middleman to get to the point to have my surgery (even though there was a slot open the next day...), since they kept telling BCBS that I hadn't paid my COBRA premiums, when in fact I actually was paid up 3 months in advance.... always every month, cancelled checks to prove. Meanwhile, the delays caused by government incompentency caused me even more knee damage. Can we sue the government, of course not.............. I actually have contacted a dozen attorneys and can't get one to take the case.

The time before that, was in 2002, when I had a minor blood clot, Rx, bed rest & heating pad and some aspirin. Before that, was in 1999 just to have a I'm turning 40 type major physical,,,, only to find out I'm super healthy (DUH) and didn't need to have a phyiscal to begin with.

All of the above cost at "full retail prices" all of about $6k. In premiums over the same time period........9 years at an average of over $500 a month.... more than $45,000. Oh, and I'm one of those "fat people" the insurance companies (and I would venture the government next) want to discriminate against to boot and force higher premiums on.... LOL. I can't run anymore, and I've lost muscle strength since the knee accident, but up until 2 years ago I could bicycle and actually keep up with those strong biker guys in spandex..... (and I'm getting close to 55 now).

I don't know why people feel they should care if someone does or doesn't have insurance as long as those people don't expect free medical care, or medical care paid for by others (same thing).

Use of force is wrong.

I've read that it could become mandatory for everyone to have health
insurance. I hope that isn't true. First it will be mandatory to HAVE it,
then it will become mandatory to USE it...forced screenings, flu shots, etc.
