Giorgio's point that we want diverse representation is important.
However, that does not mean we need to forget about the objectives
that we have as individuals and as part of this community. Let's make
"open" the default, in line with the conference guidelines, and deal
with exceptional cases on an exceptional basis. I volunteer my time to
field exceptional requests for restrictive licenses.

Secondly, for those who already consider themselves part of this
community: it is very easy to find CC licensed images using the
advanced search function on flickr.com. If we are committed to free
culture and open access to knowledge, then we need to practice what we
preach.
