Hey everyone,

I’ve got a few programming updates for this upcoming week! Check em out below:

Tune in tonight on the Inside Track, at 9pm, to hear GUUD, the solo debut of Iranian musician Ash Koosha (aka Ashkan Kooshanejad). He previously performed in the group Take It Easy Hospital and was the subject of the “docu-fiction” film No One Knows About Persian Cats, the reception of which caused him to seek asylum in the UK. He studied classical composition at the Tehran Conservatory of Music and, according to interviews, wanted to make classical music out of noise; this project sees Koosha teasing music out of heavily manipulated field recordings and synthetic sound.

On tonight's New Science Experience, NSE coordinator Beto Terwilliger will be on the decks serving downtempo nodders and other dark vibes. Check it out from 10pm to midnight.

This week on Hell or High Water, Sunday from 1 to 2pm, we'll be featuring Them, the Northern Irish garage rock band that launched Van Morrison's career, from the stacks of the Southern Folklife Collection.

And tune in to Monday’s Outside Track at 9pm to catch Mikael Seifu's latest release, Zelalem, out on RVNG Intl. Seifu is an Ethiopian musician who works in a style of music he’s dubbed “Ethiopiyawi Electronic,” borrowing equally from electronic music and traditional Ethiopian music. Mashing repetitive, looping beats and samples with lush synthesizers and wandering improvisation from Krar (a bowl shaped lyre) and Masenqo (a single-stringed bowed lute), he creates a compelling fusion.
