Hey all,

Happy weekend and happy Fall Break to the UNC students out there. Listed below are a few updates on WXYC’s programming this coming week. Tune in while you’re kicking back and relaxing!

Check out tonight’s Inside Track at 9pm to hear the suave, spacey experimental hip-hop of 21 year old actress/singer/rapper Simbi Ajikawo, aka Little Simz of North Islington, London.

Tonight's New Science Experience will feature back to back sets from local DJs Misha, Paul Wheeler, and Jay Cole Slaw. Tune in from 10pm to midnight for a choice selection of House n Techno.

This weekend on the Orange County Special, we'll be focusing on the origins of the Piedmont Blues, a style of elaborate finger picked guitar originating in the Appalachian foothills of North and South Carolina. Tune in to hear Mississippi John Hurt, Etta Baker, Rev. Gary Davis, and more this Sunday from 11am to 1pm.

Sunday’s Hell or High Water, 1 to 2pm, will feature the group Old and in the Way, the bluegrass side project of Jerry Garcia - a supergroup that included Garcia on vocals and banjo, David Grisman on mandolin, Peter Rowan on guitar and vocals, Vassar Clements on fiddle, and John Kahn on bass. Check out more info at the Southern Folklife Collection’s blog “Field Trip South”, located at http://blogs.lib.unc.edu/sfc/.

This week on Sports Rap, Sunday 9 to 10pm, host Femito is riding solo. Tune in for stream of consciousness musings on the week of sports.

And Monday’s Outside Track, 9 to 10pm, will be a collection of 21st-century Argentinian underground rock music from Buh Records. Tracks range from free-improvisational jams to deep burning psych rock and more. Freak out!
