late-80s/early-90s.

SONGS OF DAN PENN on Hell or High Water, Sunday 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Born Wallace Daniel Pennington in Vernon, AL, Dan Penn was a white soul
singer who moved to Muscle Shoals in the early 60's only to find that the
real money was in songwriting. Penn went on to write a number of soul
hits for Rick Hall's FAME Studios, and continued to collaborate with
songwriters like Spooner Oldham and Chips Moman. Throughout his
forty-plus year career, Penn wrote or co-wrote over 350 songs that were
recorded by soul, country, pop, rock, blues, and r&b artists. Sunday,
we'll listen to some of his biggest hits from the early days and follow his career up to the present.
