WOMEN IN HIP-HOP on the Thursday Night Feature, Thursday 9 p.m.-midnight
When the mainstream portrays hip hop, it typically focuses on
male-dominated rap music. The female rap artist: she exists but rarely is
she recognized for her talent. Who is she? Her style runs the gamut from
spiritual to gangsta, from mainstream to underground, from Chi Town to the
South to New York to Cali. In honor of Women's History Month, join your
host for this Thursdays' feature on female hip hop artists from 1984-2003.

THE TRICE BROTHERS on Hell or High Water, Sunday 1 p.m.
This week we will feature the music of the Trice Brothers of Orange
County, North Carolina. Willie (born in 1911) and Richard (born in 1917)
Trice played what we consider Piedmont or "country blues" and were rather
well-known in the area during the 1930s and 1940s. They played with more
nationally famous locals such as their friend, Blind Boy Fuller, and were
"rediscovered" in the late 1960s by local musicians and folklorists.

Also this week and every week:
-ORANGE COUNTY SPECIAL: traditional and neo-traditional music of the
world, Sunday 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
-BROKEN MUSIC: longer, more "difficult" pieces, Sunday 2-3 p.m.
-IN STEP WITH TEPP: UNC student body president Matt Tepper hosts a talk
