HERBIE MANN on the Thursday Night Feature, Thursday 9 p.m.-midnight
WXYC will mark Herbie Mann's passing with three hours of jazz flautin'.
Get your glissando on to the sounds of Chest Rug tonight at 9.

Various Artists, "STEAM KODOK" on the Inside Track, Friday 9 p.m.
Subtitled "26 A-Go-Go Ultrarities From the Sixties-Singapore and
South-East Asia Underground," this set offers a lethal dose of fuzzed out
pidgen rock from way back when. Out on Dutch label Grey Past.

On-Air Interview with SERENGETI, Saturday 5:40 p.m.
We'll be talking to Serengeti and DJ Crucial of St. Louis' F5 records
(http://www.f5records.com) as they visit Chapel Hill for the first time on
their label's first national tour. Serengeti, whose album "Dirty
Flamingo" was released this year to critical success, is produced by DJ
Crucial. You might know Crucial from his work with Hi Fidel (The 2002
Hi Fidel and DJ Crucial album "Travelling..." was a standout). If you
like what you hear, come out to Nightlight (at 405 1/2 West Rosemary
Street inside Skylight Exchange) later that evening for the show - the
first put on by Chapel Hill's Collective for Independent Hip Hop.

HORACE ANDY, "In the Light" on the Classic Inside Track, Sunday 2-3 p.m.
After years of churning out hit material for Studio One in the early 70s,
Jamaican singer Horace Andy put together probably his strongest proper
album in 1977, originally released on the Hungry Town label and now
available on CD from Blood & Fire. Maximum dread textures and heavyweight
rhythms go with Andy's signature silky smooth falsetto, and there's not a
rotten track in the bunch. The CD reissue includes dub mixes by Prince
Jammy, which we'll sample as time permits.

WILLIAM PARKER VIOLIN TRIO, "Scrapbook" on the Inside Track, Monday 9 p.m.
Busy bee jazz bassman William Parker surfaces with a new trio on his third
Thirsty Ear Blue Series album as a leader, joined by old colleague Billy
Bang on the fiddle and recent colleague Hamid Drake on the drums. The trio
performs old and new Parker compositions right tastefully, truth be told.
