MIGHTY HANNIBAL, "Hannibalism!" on the Inside Track, Wednesday 9 p.m.
Obscure R&B/soul legend Mighty Hannibal has been performing and recording
since the '50s, scoring hit singles through the '60s and '70s (including
the 1966 anti-Vietnam anthem "Hymn No. 5"). "Hannibalism!" is the
first-ever CD compilation of his singles; it includes "Hymn No. 5" as well
as minor hits like "Jerkin' the Dog" and "I Need a Woman (Cause I'm a
Man)" -- plus several unreleased early-'70s tracks. On Norton Records.

Various Artists, Soundtrack to "GEORGE WASHINGTON" on the Inside Track,
Friday 9 p.m.
"George Washington," a film made in Winston-Salem by N.C. School of the
Arts graduate David Gordon Green, won widespread acclaim as one of 2000's
best independent films. The film's score, composed and performed primarily
by Michael Linnen and David Wingo, fits perfectly with the movie's
dreamlike, atmospheric tale of a group of children coming of age through a
tragic incident in a rural North Carolina town.

NEU! 4 on the Classic Inside Track, Sunday 2-3 p.m.
This week on the Classic Inside Track: the long-lost album by Kraut-rock
great Neu! Recorded between the winter of 1985 and the spring of 1986,
Neu! 4, like its three seminal predecessors, circulated for years only as
a bootleg. Nevertheless, its gorgeous ambient groove was extremely
influential in anticipating the melodic post-techno music of the late
'90s, while some of the album's harder-edged material sounds almost
industrial. The production is a bit dated, but still this is a rare
recording not to be missed.

A discussion of NUCLEAR SAFETY IN THE TRIANGLE on Northern Hemisphere
Live, Sunday 5-7 p.m.
Host Nolan will lead a discussion of nuclear safety and the dangers that
our community faces being near a potentially volatile reactor and waste
facility in such an unstable militarized era. The show will potentially
include guests from NCWARN and the Orange County Nuclear Safety
Commission. Listeners are invited to call in and participate.

Various Artists, "NU SHOOTS INNA ROOTS" on the Inside Track, Monday 9 p.m.
Brighton, UK label Free Radical Sounds brings you a fresh compilation of
neo-dub/roots reggae, including productions from the Disciples, Jah Free,
Wayne McArthur, Anthony Johnson and Vibronics.
