nah, seriously. i mean have you watched music videos
lately? don't get me started, but to paraphrase
something nancy wilson said recently, you've pretty
much got to be a pole dancer to be a pop star, if
you're a woman (or girl) (actually, she said she would
tell any girl not to go into the business at all).
as far as what's obscene -- with the exception of
crass, who went out of their way to overrun boundaries
-- i don't think anything that's been mentioned here
is particularly offensive. again, i have a teenaged
daughter, and i would *love* to have her listening to
the slits rather than -- fergie! there, i've said it!
talk about obscenity. teaching young girls to trade
on their sexuality -- that's obscene.
