Title: Monday 17 April London Just read the following in Time Out if you’re in London on Monday 17th April– not a bad night!:
The Slits Trash at the End, WC1;
10pm –3am, £6. Returning after 25 years,
Original members Ari Up – whose bouncy
hiccuping vocals are key – and Tessa Politt
introduce three new members. Formed in 1976
and hugely influential and innovative British
art-punk band, they favoured rhythms that
leaned heavily on reggae and funk, with a
decidely tribal bent. Expect to hear much of
the seminal ‘Cut’, plus material from a new
album, set for summer release.
Vic Godard’s Subway Sect Social, W1;
4pm- 12midnight; £5.
Launch of the new Fitzrovian phonographic
label, headlined by perennial punk Godard,
who’s been dedicated to ruffling the feathers of
the industry’s status quo since 1977. Supports
include the magnificently mutton-chopped JTP
of Texan combo Lift To Experience. Andrew
Weatherall DJs.
