Ok I'm very low on time right now so I haven't been able to try too much
but setting the bios to use 2x AGP did not help the nvidia_driver X
sessions. However, the nv driver now does seem to be working. I will try
the unoptimized gcc when I get a chance too. Sorry about the delays.
