It's been ages since I looked, but I think the only thing keeping
NVIDIA_driver from compiling while X is running, is the fact that it
wants to load the new module. So taking out that bit and making it use
the right headers should be possible. Replacing the binaries on disk
should not be a problem, this is not Windows after all ;-)

But without trying it's just guessing.
