It is possible to add spells that require it into an init script which
checks if the spell needs to be recast... so first time you boot into
2.4.24, simpleinit cast -c alsa-driver i2c ...

I'm not sure if that'll solve the problem you're talking about, or if
it's a good solution to the problem. Just thought I'd toss it out there.
