I'm doing another 'sorcery rebuild' in an attempt to get KDE to work after my
Saturday update. What I've noticed is that many programs seem to ignore the
optimization flags I've chosen.

Mozilla was compiled with *no* optimizations at all, an alternate build done
by hand with the athlon-xp optimizations made a significant difference in
performance.

XFree86 is compiling with 686 optimizations instead of my athlon-xp settings
as well. I was really hoping to see XF with sse, 3dnow, athlon-xp
optimizations.

There are a number of other programs that behave similarly ( gcc springs to
mind, both versions ). Is this an oversight in the spell files, or are the
optimization settings being overridden by the actual configure/make sequence?

Where can I find info on the shell variable(s) that hold(s) the optimization
settings? I'm willing to tweak spells to ensure that the optimizations make
it in, if people are willing to accept the updates.
