Back when I first started using Sorcerer I was so annoyed by the spartan
init process that I took Gerard Beekman's init functions from Linux From
Scratch and started using them to write my own init scripts. These are
about 2/3 of my old scripts; I think the rest of them got reaped when I did
a bunch of dispelling during the gcc 3.1 transition. Most of them were for
daemons that for one reason or another I had trouble running with xinetd
(junkbuster comes to mind) so I had them start as init services. They
aren't clean and they're pretty specific to my system, but they work well
for me.
Lo and behold we now have an init.d spell in devel, which creates a
modified version of Beekman's functions file in /etc/init.d, so if we're
going to start changing the .sh files in spells I figure these will give
someone a head start.
