I was thinking something along the lines:
* install_config_file could only mark the files that differ
* and save the info somewhere (new spell version, path to file in the
archive,
old file)
* plus leave a note at the end of cast (casts?) that something is
"conflicting"
(if the files actually differ)
A new utility would check if any such info exsists and prompt for the changes
as
install_config_file does now.
This way cast would be (non)interactive as planned and the chance of someone
missing the config update would be slimmer - the default answer is to just
copy
the new file to file.$date, nothing is overwritten. So if someone would
ignore
the use of the new utility, the effect would be the same. Just that this way
would be easier to use and wouldn't "suffer" from timeouts like it usually
happens now.
