Can one of the sorcery team please share why not tracking these is necessary?

made when absolutely necessary.

It should be reasonable for a user to expect that the state information kept
by
sorcery is an accurate representation of their system. This allows a vast
array
of helper scripts and utilities to be built atop the system. Intentionally
skewing this state information should be a last resort in my opinion.

This choice is going to cause trouble with all of our smgl based desktops
here.
I forsee that it will cause headaches if cauldron starts using the cache for
selectively installing packages.
