I think we are only caretakers for future guru's and if we all do whatever we
want, then the next generation of developers will spend all its time fixing
our mistakes, just like we are now doing for sorcery and grimoire, in the
dash to 1.0.

As previously stated, there are several aspects to this issue. Adding
seperate
cvs spells requires CONFLICTS PROVIDES and maintenance of multiple spells,
granted it is very simple to do and requires little thought or skill.
Rewriting spells to offer a choice doesn't incur the overheads of adding
CONFLICTS and PROVIDES to other spells and it normally doesn't cause extra
maintenance on other spells, unfortunately it does take a little longer and
requires more thought.
I think it is a simple thing for any user or developer to copy a spell into
their custom grimoire, change the VERSION and SOURCE_URL and happily compile
off into the sunset. Neither users or developers should suffer the increased
complexity and overheads of then having this simple copy and edit submitted
as a new spell, especially remembering that the affected files must be
integrated all at the same time or dependancing ordering will fail.
So I say, if people want to test cvs/devel version let them, but don't submit
anything unless it is a rewrite supporting a selection, without all the
overheads incurred from CONFLICTS PROVIDES and devel->test->stable
integration.
Obviously as with any "Rule" there are exceptions. I hope we all have
common-sense enough to recognise these exceptions and also not abuse this
loop-hole and keep submitting copy and edit cvs spells.
